Episode 33: West Nile

November 2nd, 2026

A male in his 50s is found unconscious on a hot summer day. He is febrile, tachycardic, and getting more confused with every minute of contact. Heat stroke, sepsis, and stroke are all on the table, and nothing fits cleanly. In this call review, EMS Captain Dusty King and Medical Director Dr. Jonathan Apfelbaum sit down with the two paramedics who ran the call to walk through their differentials, their treatment plan, and how they communicated uncertainty to the receiving hospital.
